I'm Alexis T. Reed and I’m a senior Interdisciplinary Studies student at the University of New Orleans (UNO) and a Benjamin A. Gilman Scholar. I recently completed a reporting fellowship at Lede New Orleans, and currently serve as a board member at the New Orleans Youth Alliance (NOYA), and a working group member for the New Orleans Youth Master Plan. My passion to improve the quality of life for Black New Orleanians drives the work I do because we deserve a lifetime in New Orleans, not #OneTimeInNewOrleans. This means that residents’ quality of life is more important than tourists’ quality of temporary stay.
